First Time College Graduates
Matthew and Katherine Stroy came from small towns in north Louisiana to obtain a college education. Matthew worked odd jobs, while his mother cleaned additional houses to get funding for college. Matthew was a first-time college student & graduate from his family. Katherine's father planted and sold cotton for her education. Katherine was the only college graduate in her family. Both graduated from Grambling State University. Katherine continued her education for an advance degree.
Teach One, Reach One
Matthew and Katherine believed that education was key. Both became teachers in their discipline. Matthew became a music teacher, a coach and a mentor to many young children and adults. Katherine taught elementary education for 35 years, touching the lives of many boys and girls. Both taught Sunday School at their church, where Matthew became the Superintendent for 30 years. Katherine still teaches the 6-8 year old class.
Continuing to Educate Others
Matthew and Katherine instilled in their children the importance of education. Their children hold Graduated Degrees in their disciplines & certifications and their grandchildren have graduated from college.
Their love for children and teaching them the significance of getting an education meant the world to them. The M&K Stroy Education Fund will assist any students with the same dreams of achieving and reaching their goals.
